PABLO — Charges have been filed in connection with a 2018 death in Dixon.
Deliberate homicide charges were filed Monday in connection with the death of William “Bill” Conko Camel, who was killed two years ago near Dixon.
Cavey Little Rossbach has been arrested and is now behind bars in the Sanders County Detention Center where he’s being held on a $1 million bond.
Rossbach was being held in the CSKT jail on other charges by Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribal police.
Law enforcement officers from CSKT joined forces with the Sanders County investigation earlier this month.
Camel was shot and killed on Oct. 5, 2018, on Frank McClure Street in Agency, just north of Dixon in Sanders County.
It's news Bill's family has waited years to hear -- but for them, it's not over yet.
"My first reaction is finally. Two years was a long time but it's paid its price," Hank Conko Camel said. "Some of the weight has been lifted off my shoulders."
"But now comes the hard part, finding out the why's. We know the who. But I won't give up. I won't give up until everybody is charged that assisted in murdering my brother. I won't give up," she added.
Hank says her brother's spirit is with her family every day. She's also thankful for the collaboration between Sanders County and the Salish Kootenai Tribal law enforcement in identifying a suspect in Bill Camel's murder.
Several agencies were involved in the case, including Sanders County, Lake County, the Montana Highway Patrol, the Sanders County Attorney, CSKT Prosecutor’s Office, and the Montana Attorney General’s office, according to a news release.
Anyone with information about Camel’s death is encouraged to call Detective Martin Spring at (406) 827-6936 or CSKT Investigator Les Clairmont at (406) 675- 2700, extension 1190 or CSKT Detective Vernon Fisher at (406) 675-4700 or 249-6014.
