BILLINGS — A Lame Deer man who admitted shooting a woman in the head was sentenced to 37 months in prison and three years of supervised release on Wednesday.
Jolson Hubert Bearcomesout, 39, plead guilty on March 17 to assaulting the victim which resulted in serious bodily injury.
On June 1, 2019, Bearcomesout was drinking with friends at his home on Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation.
Later in the evening the group moved to his bedroom where they continued to drink and dance.
That was when Bearcomesout took a pistol on his bed, pointed it at the victim’s head and pulled the trigger.
The victims identity was not been released, but it's reported that she was treated for multiple injuries.
Bearcomesout took the pistol and another firearm and fled after the incident. He was later arrested in Forsyth.
In an interview with law enforcement, Bearcomesout said he didn’t know there was a bullet in the chamber and that he was “just fooling around.”
