MISSOULA — A man was arrested over for the weekend for allegedly taking pictures of a 10-year-old in a bathroom at a Missoula store.

Police responded to the Target on April 11 after they received reports of a man attempting to use his phone to capture the image of a young boy in the bathroom.

Court documents say that on that day, the alleged victim came out of the bathroom and told his father that someone appeared to be trying to take a picture or record him while he was in the bathroom.

The father then confronted Steven Baltz who denied doing so. The father then prevented Baltz from leaving until law enforcement arrived.

The victim told law enforcement that he was in a stall when he noticed a phone appear on the floor and that his picture was on it.

Baltz denied attempting to take a picture of the boy and police searched his phone and could not find any images of the boy on it.

Officers did acknowledge in court documents they could not search for deleted files.

Baltz is being charged with felony attempted sexual abuse of a child.
