MISSOULA — A man has been charged with attempted deliberate homicide for allegedly shooting someone in the Miller Creek area of Missoula Monday night.

Zakai William Houck, 20, is being held in the Missoula County jail on a $2 million bond. He was arrested earlier this week in Lake County and was held there on an outstanding warrant.

According to court documents, Missoula County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the 2700 block of Ancabide Lane at around 8:40 p.m. on Monday for reports of a bloody male laying in the road. When medical personnel arrived they noticed the male had gunshot injuries on his head.

Witnesses told law enforcement they did not see the incident but did see a silver vehicle speed down the road.

On Tuesday, a woman referred to as G.T. told law enforcement that her ex-boyfriend and father of her child, Zakai Houck, was responsible for the incident. She stated Houck contacted her Monday afternoon for a ride to buy some "dabs."

According to court documents, the two drove to Miller Creek and picked up the male victim, and went to a nearby ATM. G.T. stated that when they were near the ATM, Houck sent her a message to keep driving and roll down the victim's window.

She stated her ears then began to ring and she realized Houck shot the man. G.T. reported Houck pushed the man out of the car and instructed her to drive away.

The male victim was transported to a local hospital where he was listed in serious condition Monday night. His condition is unknown at this time.

Houck is set to appear in Missoula County Justice Court Thursday afternoon. Click here to view the court documents in the case.
