STEVENSVILLE — The Ravalli County Sheriff's Office is releasing more information from Tuesday night's double homicide that ended in a crash in a Missoula neighborhood after a high-speed chase down Brooks Street.
The shootings happened in a remote area in Stevensville and on Wednesday morning the Ravalli County Sheriff's Office was processing the crime scene, and not allowing anyone to enter the scene.
Ravalli County Sheriff Steve Holton says deputies responded to an area northeast of Stevensville Tuesday night for a domestic dispute where they found two females who had been shot to death. A male victim was taken to the hospital on Tuesday night to be treated for gunshot wounds.
The suspect, Logan Dallas Christopher, 25, fled the scene Tuesday night and was arrested in Missoula -- after leading law enforcement on a high-speed chase that began in the Lolo area -- after crashing his vehicle near the Southgate Mall.
Christopher is being held in the Ravalli County Detention Center on deliberate homicide, criminal endangerment, attempted deliberate homicide, and assault with a weapon charges. Sheriff Holton said there is evidence he was on narcotics. He added that investigators worked through the night and served three search warrants.
The scene of the shooting was secured as investigators continued to process evidence and interview witnesses.
A Ravalli County Justice Court official confirmed that Christopher will be seen in court Thursday afternoon.
Sheriff Holton says out of respect for the families he will release the names of the victims at a later date. He also thanked assisting law enforcement agencies and said it was imperative the suspect be taken into custody as soon as possible to prevent further injury or loss of life.
