BILLINGS — Montana's Republican leadership continued to make its final push Thursday with another big name guest ahead of the Nov. 3 election.
U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) joined U.S. Senator Steve Daines (R-MT), U.S. Representative Greg Gianforte (R-MT), and other G.O.P. nominees at a Daines campaign event Thursday morning at the Billings Hotel and Convention Center.
Sen. Cruz is the latest high-profile Republican to come to Montana. U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) headlined a rally in Great Falls Tuesday, while Donald Trump, Jr. is expected in Kalispell over the weekend.
Their presence shows just how much the G.O.P. believes is at stake in the Treasure State senate race.
"Montana is critical. It's a battleground for the whole country," said Sen. Cruz. "This senate race, Steve Daines' senate race, could easily decide control of the United States Senate, and our country is in a battle fundamentally for the direction we're going."
"How Montana votes, and how this election turns out in Montana, will decide the future of the United States Senate, which will decide the future of United States Supreme Court," Sen. Daines added.
"That's why it's so important. If there's one message to Montanans, it's get out and exercise your right to vote," he continued. "Montanans have been hearing from politicians now for far too long - they get to express their voice, and I urge my fellow Montanans to get out and vote."
Wednesday's Mountain States poll released by Montana State University-Billings has Gov. Steve Bullock leading Sen. Daines by one point - 48% to 47%.
Senators Cruz, Daines, and others will also hold a rally in Hamilton on Thursday night.
