Bon Accord Fire burning 50-80 acres near Bannack

BANNACK — A wildfire is burning three miles northeast of Bannack after sparking on Saturday around 4 pm.

According to the Dillon Interagency Dispatch Center says the Bon Accord Fire is about 50 to 80 acres.

It's burning in the grass, brush, and timber and is currently headed away from Bannack.

Four Type 6 engines, two Type 2 helicopters, and 2 Type 1 air tankers are working on the fire, as well as ground crews.

There are currently 35 people working on the fire.

Erratic winds and some small thunderstorms with a bit of lightning are plaguing the area making fighting the fire a tough task.

Nearby onlookers say water and red fire retardant being dropped on the fire.

There are orders out for two Type 1 crews, which have 20 people in each crew. Those crews are expected to show up tomorrow morning.
