KALISPELL — Crews battled a fire in a Kalispell residence Friday night, according to a Kalispell Fire Department press release.
The release said the department received a 911 call around 7:30 p.m. Friday for a residential structure fire in the 1000 block of 7th Avenue East in Kalispell.
Crews arrived to find moderate smoke and flames showing from a side window and made an initial exterior attack to contain the fire to the room where it began.
No injuries have been reported and no one was home when the fire was detected, according to the release.
The release said the home’s main floor sustained moderate fire and smoke damage, with smoke and water damage throughout the residence.
In addition to the Kalispell Fire Department, the Kalispell Police Department, Flathead County 911 center, Evergreen Fire Department, Bigfork Fire Department, Smith Valley Fire Department and Flathead Electric assisted with the fire.
Fire investigators say “improper disposal of smoking materials” caused the fire.
