A new wildfire approximately five acres in size is burning in the Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest on Friday.
Forest officials report the Fields Gulch Fire near Lincoln is burning in exceptionally dense, dead, and down timber.
Two helicopters were effectively engaging the fire and slowing growth on Friday. The helicopters were joined by two single engine air tankers who are delivering retardant drops as well."
Two large air tankers are on order to help with crews coming from Helena and the Lincoln District along with assistance of Lincoln engines.
The nearest structures are three miles away and fire officials do not believe they're threatened because of current wind directions.
