ASHLAND — Residents in the Ashland area have been told it's safe to return home after a wildfire forced officials to issue an evacuation order Wednesday.
According to a Rosebud County Sheriff's Office Facebook post on Thursday morning, all agencies involved in managing the fire agreed it was safe for residents to return home.
"It is safe to go back to your home, however be prepared to evacuate again if the weather changes," the post states. "We will keep adding updates as soon as we can."
The evacuation orders were issued for Ashland and Red Shale are residents in Rosebud County on Wednesday evening.
The Rice Fire was reported to be located about 1.5 miles northeast of Ashland and grew quickly in high winds.
Fires were also reported at Snider Creek, Ingomar and Tongue River Road.
