Fire managers report that wind gusts late Thursday afternoon wind gusts pushed the fire to the south and west of Gold Creek Cabin. The cabin — which is wrapped in aluminized structure wrap — remains unburned.

A helicopter is conducting water bucket drops to check the fire's spread toward the cabin and are crews are also working to keep the fire in check and limit its spread onto National Forest lands.

Fire activity may increase over the weekend and smoke may be visible from Missoula, upper Gold Creek, the Ninemile Prairie Road area, and parts of Seeley Lake.
