KALISPELL – The City of Kalispell is on its way to getting its first RV park.

The 330-space RV Park called Montana Basecamp would be located just west of US Highway 93 and south of the Kalispell Bypass near Ashley Meadows Drive.

The lengthy process by a Florida applicant has already gone through the public hearing process and end earlier this month the Kalispell City Council unanimously approved the first reading of the Planning and Development zoning overlay moving a step closer.

Kalispell Senior City Planner Jarod Nygren says that according to the city’s Growth Boundary its one of the only areas city planners could foresee an RV Park located because of constraints with developing in the property as residential.

He says part of the application is a Growth Policy Amendment needed to be analyzed to allow for the park and a public hearing on the amendment which the council took action on that would allow commercial zoning for the RV Park.

“So it creates a nice park-like setting while at the same time giving those potential customers of the RV Park it’s very similar to a hotel those people would stay there and have access into the downtown and core area which we are trying to revitalize and get more people downtown for those businesses,” Nygren said.

Montana Basecamp is expected to be open this Spring and is already accepting reservations.
