KALISPELL – Voters in the Flathead are weighing in on a pair of races and a bond request on Election Day.

Flathead County Commissioner District 3

The Flathead County Commission District 3 seat – which covers the western part of Flathead County — is being contested.

Democrat Tom Clark, who was facing Republican Randy Brodehl, was behind by a margin of 63%-to-37% as of Wednesday morning. Brodehl beat incumbent Gary Krueger in the June primary.

Brodehl served as a Montana Representative for House District 9.  Clark is a West Valley businessman

The winner will serve a six-year term on the three-member board.

The Flathead County Commission controls the county budget and capital improvement projects in the county.

Flathead County Justice of the Peace

Two Kalispell attorneys are running to be Flathead County’s next Justice of the Peace.

Paul Sullivan, an attorney who works as a substitute judge in justice court, was leading William Managhan — a public defender in Kalispell — by a margin of 61%-to-39 as of Wednesday morning.

Marion Fire Levy

The Marion Fire Department asked voters to support a property tax levy asking for 18.16 mills to generate an annual income of $94,000 and they responded.

The tally on Wednesday morning showed the proposal passing by a 57%-to-43% margin. The money would be budgeted for employee wages, equipment updates, and fire apparatus replacements.
