WHITEFISH – As the longest partial government shutdown in US history enters its 31st day, Montana Coffee Traders in Whitefish is stepping up to the plate and helping those furloughed government employees.

Every Friday, those with government IDs can get a free drip coffee at Montana Coffee Traders in Whitefish. Free coffee Fridays will last until the shutdown has ended.

We spoke with Eviann Reynolds, a shift lead at Montana Coffee Traders. Reynolds has been at Montana Coffee Traders for five years and she tells us this is not the first time she has seen Montana Coffee Traders go forward with a charitable act.

Reynolds says each Montana Coffee Traders location chooses to focus on different issues such as hunger, homelessness, etc.

Born and raised in Montana, Reynolds tells us how much a small act of kindness like this means to her.

“I was born and raised here, so it’s hard to see people affected by things like homelessness and the government shutdown. So, it’s nice to work for a company that really attacks the problems and really does their best to do what they can.”
