Gun brandished on Snapchat sends Columbia Falls school into lockdown

COLUMBIA FALLS – The Columbia Falls Police Department said that an area elementary school went into lockdown Tuesday afternoon after a Snapchat video was found depicting a “young man with a gun.”

CFPD said that Ruder Elementary went into lockdown at approximately 2:15 p.m. Tuesday.

The photo that prompted the lock down reportedly depicted a “young man with a gun and a message indicating the desire to meet in the Ruder parking lot to settle a disagreement…”

There was no immediate information indicating whether or not the individual in the social media post was a student or whether anyone was arrested in Tuesday’s incident.

Police maintained that there was no direct threat to the school.
