KALISPELL – A new Kalispell apartment complex will hopefully help with Kalispell’s 0% vacancy rate.
The Kalispell City Council just approved a 120-unit apartment complex near the old parking lot area at the Glacier Gateway Mall.
Kalispell planning director Tom Jentz says that construction on five three-story buildings could start as early as this summer.
Single apartments and family units will be available for market price, not low income. With a 0% vacancy in the area, Jentz says this complex is desperately needed.
Choosing to put the new apartment complex near Glacier Gateway Mall was intentional.
“What we’re doing is we’re putting a housing project, a housing complex near a major employment center in our community plus other services in the neighborhood,” Jentz said. “So, we’re taking care of an old parking lot and we’re putting housing where people work.
Jentz assures locals traffic patterns and sidewalks will be updated to accommodate the apartments. Streets by the new complex will also be tree-lined and widened.
