Essential Eats Distributors in Missoula is bringing food to four different tribal lands this holiday season.

The nonprofit has already collected 700 turkeys to distribute for Thanksgiving and is now raising money to distribute Christmas dinners.

Last year the group donated 63,000 pounds of food to families across Montana.

They are delivering to multiple Native American communities including the Flathead, Fort Belknap, Blackfeet, and Northern Cheyenne nations.

Director Sara Wecker says she sees stories of hunger everyday.

"Because food insecurity is not just a thought. The stories I hear are of people who actually have no resource or extremely little resources this holiday season, and it's an opportunity to send a happy greeting," said Wecker
