EVERGREEN — Evergreen Fire and Rescue, assisted by Flathead County Office of Emergency Services, controlled a small hazmat spill Sunday near Kalispell.
A car crashed into Spring Creek and became partially submerged in the water, causing the oil spill.
Crews were able to pull the car out of the water by 9 a.m. Sunday.
Evergreen Fire and Rescue officials used wet suits to access the frigid water.
Once in the water, crews deployed oil absorbent booms to soak up hydrocarbons in the oil and deployed the oil booms for 24 hours.
The cause of the vehicle accident is under investigation.
