WHITEFISH — A familiar face is taking over as City Manager for the City of Whitefish.
The Whitefish City Council approved Dana Smith to be the new City Manager on Monday. Smith was previously the City of Whitefish Finance Director and has been the interim City Manager since September.
Smith says addressing affordable housing is a major issue as Whitefish continues to grow in population. She also wants to make sure Whitefish keeps its small town feel while making sure visitors feel welcome.
“Working with the community to make sure that Whitefish’s character remains while we address growth within our community, I think is a good challenge, and I enjoy that challenge,” said Smith.
Smith is a Flathead Valley native who graduated from Polson High School and the University of Montana.
