MISSOULA — Some of Missoula's local Cub Scouts are showing veterans their appreciation in a unique way.

Veterans have made the ultimate sacrifice forfeiting safety and stability for our freedom, but finding the words to convey a heartfelt “thank you” in person can be tricky. That’s why Cub Scout Pack 4101 is showing their gratitude through letters.

“We just wanted to find a special way to say thank you. It’s hard sometimes around this time because the veterans have other events going on, so this is something that we can do separate but still have that specialness to it," Assistant Club Master Kimberly Minckler said.

These letters will be special and each one unique and full of quite the artistic touch. Minckler plays a key role as assistant club master for the pack, a group that her own sons are involved in.

“They just grow up knowing what it costs for our freedom and for all of the liberty and for all of the privileges we have,” said Minckler.

The letters will be presented to veterans during a special ceremony at the group’s next pack meeting.
