MISSOULA — The Poverello Center in Missoula had decided to close the food pantry in its building to limit outside visitors to the center.

In a press release the center has stated they are working with Missoula County Health Department to identify any additional steps they need to take and had limited the volunteer work in the soup kitchen activities.

The center also stated in the release that health and safety of their guests, employees, and volunteers is the most important and they are closely monitoring developments and implementing several safety precautions within the agency.

The center is concerned about the health of those they serve in their program as the people they help are extremely vulnerable with complex medical histories. As a result, the center is encouraging the following precautions for all guests, staff, and volunteers:

  • Wash your hands frequently and for at least 20 seconds with soap and hot water
  • Avoid touching your face
  • Practice cough etiquette
  • Practice social distancing
  • If you are sick, seek medical care early and stay home if possible to avoid infecting others
