Snowmobile accident near Alberton leaves one man dead

ALBERTON — The Montana Highway Patrol responded over the weekend to a snowmobile accident near Alberton that left one man dead.

MHP arrived at the scene of the crash on Saturday around 9 p.m.

Reports show a 45-year-old male from Missoula operating a snowmobile was traveling southbound on Edith Peak Road about two miles north of the Ninemile Ranger Station.

When turning a curve, the snowmobiler went off the left side of the road and struck a tree. He was pronounced dead after being taken to St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula.

MHP reported snowy road conditions at the time of the crash and told MTN News that the snowmobiler was wearing a helmet.
