Montana winter weather driving tips offered up

Colder weather and snow moving into the forecast drivers will need to be prepared for changing road conditions.

The Gallatin County Sheriff's Office is reminding everyone its time to prepare your vehicle for the colder weather -- including have emergency supplies on hand in case you get stuck.

"Make sure that your vehicle is ready, tires, windshield, all of that. Have some cold weather gear just in case the worst scenario," Gallatin County Sheriff Brian Gootkin advised.

Sheriff Gootkin also told MTN News it's improtant to focus on safe distances while driving fast by making sure the vehicle in front of you has enough distance so that if things do go badly you'll have time to stop and to avoid an accident.
