MISSOULA – Many students stepped across the stage to celebrate their graduation on Saturday at the first-ever University of Montana Fall Commencement ceremony after years of hard work and dedication.

Parents and other family members packed into the University Center Ballroom for a ceremony that provided those who would not have the opportunity to participate in the spring ceremony to still walk across the stage.

Senator John Tester and Attorney General Tim Fox both spoke at the event with each recalling on their own personal experience to offer advice to those headed out into the workforce.

“Be prepared for hard times. Cherish the good times but any farmer would tell you prepared for the bad years,” Sen. Tester said.

“Whatever it is that you have left to do I encouraged you to get it done and that goes for everyone not just our graduates don’t wait for health crisis for the next excuse,” Fox added.

This ceremony gave students who had finished a semester early an opportunity to walk across the stage.
