MISSOULA – One of the two suspects charged in connection with a gruesome 2017 double murder in Missoula is set to go on trial next year.
Augustus Standingrock changed his plea last week to guilty in connection with the double murder that happened on Strand Avenue in 2017 but Tiffanie Pierce is still scheduled for a jury trial on April 12.
The Missoula County Attorney’s Office recently filed a motion that would force all evidence to be provided to the court before the trial.
Pierce’s defense team also filed a motion to try and prevent the court from using evidence from another alleged assault and stabbing that Pierce is accused of committing.
They argue that the two incidents are not related and that state law dictates evidence cannot be provided from an incident not associated with the case as character evidence.
But Judge James Wheelis issued an order that the defense is required to provide all evidence including reports and witnesses.
Pierce will be in court again on Friday for a status conference.
