MISSOULA –  Folks who use Missoula’s parks will have to dig deeper in their pockets for fun this year after the Missoula City Council approved a package of fee increases for 2019.

Missoula Parks and Recreation has been tweaking numbers for several months after the city council approved a budget which forced many departments to re-think their expenses in the face of another revenue crunch.

Those adjustments have to come primarily in the fees that are charged to parks users for Parks and Rec. Included in the changes approved Monday night are higher prices for everything from using meeting rooms to renting fields at Fort Missoula and elsewhere around the city.

For example, the cost of swimming at Splash Montana and Currents will jump 50¢ per visit. That drives adult admissions to $7.25 while youth prices go up to $5 a day, although residents can save 50¢ if they live in the city.

Meanwhile, softball field prices will jump as much as $5 per hour at some fields with tournament costs climbing as $50 per day.
