MISSOULA –  Habitat for Humanity of Missoula purchased more property in East Missoula in January.

HFHM is working with the tenants of the 10 trailer homes to uphold their non-displacement policy.

This is one of HFHM’s biggest area purchases in Missoula as normally the organization works with two homes at a time. They hope to break ground on the property in 2021.

Executive Director Noreen Humes says affordable housing has been a consistent problem in Missoula, and tenants she’s talked to are excited.

“They don’t have to worry about being evicted off the land. They don’t have to worry about what to do with their trailer. In the end, they really will end up with an affordable housing situation which is a win-win for the community, and habitat, and the families in East Missoula.”

Addressing areas of poverty housing is a top priority for local officials, according to Missoula County’s 2018-2023 Community Health Improvement Plan.
