MISSOULA – Missoula County has announced the appointment of a new public works director.
Shane Stack will oversee all Public Works operations, including the road, building, and mapping divisions, the Surveyors Office, and the six sewer and water districts under county jurisdiction.
Stack, who starts April 1, has spent nearly 23 years with the Montana Department of Transportation, most recently as the Missoula District preconstruction engineer.
He planned, implemented and oversaw several high-profile, multimillion-dollar engineering projects in the Missoula area while working for MDT.
“We’re excited to welcome Shane aboard during this time of leadership transition in a number of our departments,” Commissioner Dave Strohmaier said.
“His strong management skills, combined with his ability to work collaboratively and creatively with state and federal officials, the city of Missoula and the public, is exactly the right chemistry to help distinguish Missoula County as a public works leader across the state.”
Stack is a licensed professional engineer with a degree in civil engineering from Montana State University.
“I’m proud to have served this great state as the Missoula District preconstruction engineer at MDT, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve Missoula County in my new role as Public Works director,” Stack said. “I look forward to joining the team and helping support and guide staff as they continue to provide quality service to Missoula County residents.”
