MISSOULA – State wildlife officials will be closing a section of the Blackfoot River beginning on April 15.
The river will be closed from the Weigh Station Fishing Access Site downstream to the confluence with the Clark Fork River until May as construction on the Interstate 90 bridges near Bonner continues.
Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks says that while deck demolition is underway over the next month, construction crews cannot have anyone on or near the river due to safety concerns.
The river will be closed to all usage, such as floating, swimming, wading and fishing.
FWP plans to reopen the river as soon as the project allows and expects that there will be several other closures over the summer as construction continues.

CLARIFICATION: Big Sky Public Relations said Friday that the river closure is due to deck demolition, not pier demolition.
