MISSOULA – The 19th annual Garden City River Rod Run kicked off on Friday and went until 9 p.m. on Saturday.

The event was at Cara’s Park, where all kinds of hot rods were on display with colorful, shiny, and rusty cars all parked next to the carousel for the public to see.

The Five Valley Ford Club took over the event a few years ago, after the Missoula Downtown Association stopped hosting it.

“I own 11 of these cars, and they’re all Fairlanes. ’66 and ’67 is my years. I get people that ask me all sorts of questions,” said Jerry Brenner who has been with the club for 20 years.”

“That’s the only way they’re going to learn anything. I have younger kids that come up and ask me, which is good, that’s how the younger generations is going to make this hobby continue.”

Brenner, who has been the president for the past 12 years, said the club gave $1,000 to the Missoula Food Bank, the Watson Children’s Shelter, and Animal Control this weekend.
