Old Perkins becoming new taproom with some help from familiar Missoula face

Posted

MISSOULA – The former Perkins restaurant on North Reserve Street has been purchased by a group that already owns a building right up the street.

Club Properties — which is owned by Hoagieville and Montana Club founders Nick Alonzo and Bob Powell — bought the property with the intention of building a new taproom called the Tap Club.

The restaurant will feature a gourmet burger line and have 36 beers on tap in what’s described as an upscale sports bar atmosphere. The developers hope to be able to open the new restaurant in time for this year’s Griz football season.

It didn’t take long for the property to sell which is a testament to the strength of the Missoula market.

“Just to kind of give you an idea of how hot the commercial market is in Missoula right now, this property — I had been in talks with the owner out of Butte Montana and I drove to Butte and got the property listed — and pretty much had it sold before I drove back,” real estate broker Jessie Eagen said. “And I just sent a friend of mine a text and boom we had it under contract basically before I even got back to Missoula.”

There’s no word yet on if cheese fries will be served at the taproom but they do plan on having up-scale sports bar food available.
