MISSOULA — The Five Valley Sweet Adelines of Missoula are spreading some holiday spirit this year, with their Covid-safe version of Christmas caroling.

The "Dial A Carol" program is happening now, where you can call up one of the members, and they'll sing your favorite Christmas or Hannukah song to you right over the phone.

Not being able to visit long-term care facilities this year due to the pandemic, the singing ladies thought up Dial A Carol to keep celebrating in song.

Organizers say this was a great way to let people know they're still thinking of them, even if they can't visit in person.

Gayle Walton says their mission is to spread the joy of music, but that's not even the best part: "For me, it's definitely been gratitude. It never just ends with a song, you have a little chat with them, and they'll tell you if they're hearing from their families, and that sort of thing, but they are so grateful that we're doing this."

Walton has sung to about 15 people at senior living facilities, and says she's happy to be able to reach these people.

You can call Gayle at 406-546-4219 to have her sing your favorite holiday song back to you. You can also call executive director Candy Johnson at 406-543-8280, or event organizer Judy at 406-273-2491.

They plan to continue the program next year, and Walton says you can call her any time to request a song.
