MISSOULA — The Historical Museum at Fort Missoula is getting ready for another big book sale.
The tenth annual museum fundraiser kicks off on Thursday and 60,000 books are packed into two buildings at the Fort. New this year, the sale will be held at Heritage Hall and the Post Headquarters due to the large amount of books.
All of the proceeds go towards educational programs, exhibits, and restoration projects at the museum. Books are priced at 1.50 per vertical inch.
Museum spokeswoman says this year there will be a Halloween-themed book corner with a selection of spooky titles.
"It is a great community wide event. We accept book donations all year long from various people throughout Western Montana and we sort them all year long," Rogers said. The first week of November kicks off the largest book sale in basically Montana -- so it's a really fun event."
The event starts at 10 a.m. and runs through Sunday and the first 1,000 attendees will get a bookmark created by a local artist while the first 25 adults in costume will get a book bag.
There will also be Halloween candy for the kids.
