MISSOULA — The Hope Rescue Mission is partnering with Soft Landing Missoula to provide 200 meals to Missoula's homeless population this weekend.
The Hope Rescue Mission (HRM) normally does a two-day holiday meal indoors every year, but due to COVID-19, the groups will be bringing the meals to people tomorrow.
HRM prepared 20 turkeys inside a local church, and on Saturday Soft Landing Missoula will help box up the rest of the meals and deliver them.
Volunteers are dropping them off at four locations and David's Angels will also bring gifts.
Executive Director Jim Hicks says that despite the pandemic, the organization felt they had to do something to still bring, dignity, joy, and a meal to those in need.
"We're all feeling what this pandemic is doing -- and so are the unsheltered,” Hicks said. “They're feeling it as well, in fact, it's been a bit more difficult, just another layer, of them trying to receive help and navigate life."
Hope Rescue Mission wants to thank David's Angels and Soft Landing for helping with the distribution this year.
