MISSOULA — The Boys and Girls Club of Missoula County is still giving out food boxes for the holidays.

The organization started giving out food boxes earlier this summer and are bringing the resource back for the holidays.

One hundred boxes arrive at the City Life Center every Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. and organizers say they go fast.

The Boys and Girls Club reports they're seeing more families dealing with unemployment due to covid.

CEO Katie Holman says families who don't qualify for assistance like SNAP benefits but still need help putting food on the table, are happy for the service.

"A lot of folks are sort of just getting back in the door of work and other jobs, and having access to this sort of free food is really helpful to their families when they're just getting their footing after everything that's happened this year,” Holman said.

Holman noted that some people are even bringing boxes to their neighbors in need.

The City Life Center is located at 1515 Fairview Avenue, and the boxes are waiting to be picked up inside the east entrance. The program is running through Tuesday, Dec. 21.
