MISSOULA — At this time of year, many schools are usually performing their winter holiday concerts.

But because of COVID, music departments across Western Montana have had to come up with creative ways to showcase their musical talents virtually.

The Missoula County Public Schools Fine Arts department collaborated with music teachers across the district asking them to record videos of the holiday performances to share virtually with the community that included performances from the staff and students.

MCPS music teacher Randy Zschaechner, who compiled the music videos, said it was fun to see the creativity of the performances submitted by the staff and students showcasing their many talents.

Fine Arts Director Monte Grise said the most difficult part of this year was not performing the concerts for the community in person but wanted to reassure students that the music will play on.
