MISSOULA — The COVID-19 pandemic has left schools scrambling to come with plans to allow high school graduation ceremonies to take place.
Missoula County Public Schools three urban high schools -- Big Sky, Hellgate, and Sentinel as well as the Willard Alternative High School Program -- will host graduation ceremonies this week.
Graduation events are not open to the public due to the COVID-19 global pandemic and limits to group sizes and gathering set by the Gov. Steve Bullock and the Missoula City-County Health Department.
All of the ceremonies will be held at the University of Montana in the Washington Grizzly Stadium rain or shine.
Ceremonies will take place as follows:
- Willard Alternative High School Program Thursday, June 4, 2020 4:00 p.m.
- Hellgate High School Friday, June 5, 2020 9:00 a.m.
- Sentinel High School Friday, June 5, 2020 12:00 p.m.
- Big Sky High School Friday, June 5, 2020 3:00 p.m.
MCPS Communications Director Hatton Littman notes that Saturday June 6 will be held as a weather date for any ceremonies that must be canceled due to hail or lightning.
All families will receive a link to pre-screening for students, families, and staff prior to attending the graduation events taking place at Washington-Grizzly Stadium.
