MISSOULA — The Missoula International Airport announced Tuesday that it will soon offer more direct flights to California.

Alaska Airlines is adding nonstop flights to San Diego, San Francisco and San Jose, a move Missoula leaders say will bring more business opportunities. Alaska Airlines started offering flights to Los Angeles this spring, and the airport says adding these extra flights will help people, and businesses, connect.

Missoula officials say not only will this bring in more visitors, it will also give Missoulians more travel options.

The Missoula Economic Partnership says businesses are especially looking forward to connecting with the Bay Area.

"We see this as really allowing companies who have made this their home, to sort of give them the assurance that this was a good investment and the right place to stay. And we'll see high paying jobs continue to grow here into the future, and we're really excited to see that happen starting next spring," said MEP CEO Grant Kier.

Alaska Airlines says it hopes to bring more direct flights to Kalispell and Bozeman in the future as well.

The three new flights in Missoula will start March 2021.
