MISSOULA — The Missoula Community Theater (MCT) brought Buddy the elf to life back in 2018 with their performance of Elf the Musical.

The show was a massive success, selling out in the weekends leading up to Christmas. Some cast members say they still get recognized in town as performers in the show.

This year, MCT is taking Elf the Musical off the shelf by making it available for you to stream at home.

MCT staff say Music Theater International -- the royalty house where they acquire their material -- has made a special arrangement and is allowing theaters like MCT to stream productions they have archived.

People can watch MCT’s production of Elf the Musical online for just $5. Staff say this is their gift to the community for their support and patience this year.

"Five dollars a ticket isn't going to be a moneymaker by any means, but it's material we had, it's a story that people adore, and it was very popular," said MCT Public Relations Director Terri Elander.

"Even two years later, it's still incredible and timely, so we just want to celebrate and bring joy and share what we do until we can get back out there and get people in the theater to do this again on stage."

Performances of Elf the Musical will be available for streaming until Dec. 30 and tickets are available here.
