MISSOULA — The Montana Highway Patrol, along with the Missoula County Sheriff’s Office, and the Missoula City Police Department were invited to take part in honoring a fellow fallen law enforcement officer on Wednesday.

A ceremony for Reeves County, Texas Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant, Malissa Roberts, was held at Missoula’s Memorial Rose Garden.

RUCK For The Fallen, an organization dedicated to supporting lost veterans, law enforcement, and first responders, made a flag in Roberts honor which is en route from Lewiston, Idaho to Texas, where it will be given to her family.

The flag, which will be making stops in communities across the country along the way, will be signed by law enforcement members.

Missoula County Undersheriff Rich Maricelli says it’s an honor to take part in this journey.

“For us, this is important to identify and remember those who have dedicated their life, and in some cases, given their life to our country and the community that they work for,” he said.

The flag is expected to reach Robert’s family later this month.
