MISSOULA — Giving Tuesday is set for Dec. 1 and with the COVID-19 pandemic disrupting most fundraising efforts, this year's day of giving is even more important.

The annual event -- which began in 2012 -- encourages people to give to their favorite organizations in need of some assistance.

There are plenty of organizations in Missoula that could use support which ranges from monetary donations, donating specific items, or people volunteering their time.

They could all use some help as they continue to try and support the community.

“Organizations have been hit hard because they are not able to provide services that bring in revenue,” explained Missoula Community Foundation executive director Marcy Allen.

“Maybe their donor base is down. But then again, we also see the critical roles these organizations play in our community and the vibrancy they bring -- but also in the essential services that we are seeing greater gaps in right now,” Allen added.

This year there is an extra incentive to be generous on Giving Tuesday as the CARES act lets you deduct any $300 donation to qualifying charities from your 2021 taxes.
