MISSOULA — Snowbowl's Lavelle chair lift will continue to remain closed until they can get the proper pieces of equipment to fix the lift.
A chair from the Lavelle lift came off of a broken line on the first day of the new year and has been shut down since then.
Montana Snowbowl said in a Facebook Post that in order to repair the lift they need folks coming in from out of town to help and "also need to collect materials from out of town in order to do the repairs.
For the time being, the Grizzly Chair is open and if you would like to you can hike to the top of the Lavelle lift to hit the backside.
Snowbowl anticipates the repairs to the Lavelle lift to take at least a week.
The ski area is also still working to open the new side of the Mountain Snow Park. They hope to have that side of the mountain open next weekend.
Skiers were evacuated from the Lavelle lift on Wednesday after an empty chair separated from the cable.
Montana Snowbowl owner Brad Morris told MTN News that an empty chair separated from the main cable, after it unloaded two skiers.
