UPDATE: 'Hazardous materials' found in Missoula residence as search warrant served

There was a police presence on Missoula’s northside as law enforcement serves a search warrant.

We are learning more information about a Tuesday afternoon incident on Missoula's northside.

The Missoula County Sheriff’s Office assisted the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) task force in serving a warrant in the 1300 block of Cowper Street.

According to a news release, hazardous materials were found in an apartment during the operation.

The Sheriff's Office reports the HIDTA task force has determined there is no public safety risk from the materials found in the apartment.

Additionally, those living in the area of the residence face no risks.

Missoula County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Jeanette Smith says "no arrests have been made at this time."

A large law enforcement presence will remain at the apartment into this evening as an investigation continues.

The Sheriff's Office will release additional information as it becomes available.
