MISSOULA — We have an update on school construction in Missoula.
The Smart Schools 2020 bond passed in 2015 and some of the schools are starting to see their construction complete. The voter approved bond is funding updates to every school within the Missoula County Public Schools District.
MCPS says some schools completed updates this summer, and there are only four more still under construction. Those are Sentinel High School, Big Sky High School, Meadow Hill Middle School, and C.S. Porter Middle School.
MCPS spokeswoman Hatton Littman says the updates are partially to make room for growing student bodies, and the construction has had an impact on the entire Missoula community.
“We know that even if you don't have a student in one of our schools, that our schools are like neighborhood anchors and community centers in areas all around the community,” Littman said. “So, we certainly think that they're sources of pride now that people can see those projects that are done."
Littman says the projects to date have cost more than $150 million.
