The truck then slid sideways into the northbound lane where it was struck by a Dodge pickup.

According to Scheuer, the GMC caught on fire after coming to rest in a field to the east of 191.

The driver and one of the passengers were pronounced dead at the scene.

Another passenger from the GMC truck and the driver of the Dodge pickup were taken to the hospital.

There is no word on their current condition.

Scheuer said the crash remains under investigation.
