BILLINGS- Billings celebrated Halloween on Wednesday and on Friday, they had a chance to give their candy to those serving the country.

Brewer Dental Center, a Billings dentists’ group, collected candy for Operation Gratitude, a national campaign gives care packages to military members serving overseas, veterans and first responders.

Children received $1 for each pound of candy, and some also wrote messages to the troops.

“We want to give them an idea of thanking those who served,” said Bryan Peabody, Brewer Dental Center marketing & events coordinator. “Not only are we helping them with reducing cavities, but we’re helping them know there are people fighting for them every day. And so it’s our way of giving back.”

Brewer Dental Center’s goal is to collect 500 pounds of candy and the buy-back will keep going next week.
