MISSOULA – Montana’s Secretary of State Corey Stapleton believes Tuesday’s election will be one of the largest voter turnouts for a midterm election for the state.

Stapleton says given the high number of absentee votes already received, and what county clerks have been reporting, Montana voter turnout is on pace to exceed the 2016 presidential election.

Stapleton credits the high turnout with this being the first vote since President Trump was elected and Montana having several heated races and initiatives on the ballot.

All votes are hoping to be accounted for by midnight, but ultimately clerks will be making sure votes are counted correctly, rather than quickly.

Stapleton added that he believes the nation is going to be watching Montana Tuesday night.
