BOZEMAN – Crews from several area fire departments are on the scene of a large fire at a four-story apartment complex that was under construction on Babcock near 7th Ave.
The fire was first reported at about 12:20 a.m. Tuesday and the flames so intense that firefighters were not able to enter the building. The crews are reportedly fighting a purely defensive action from outside.
Flames could still be seen on the structure four hours after the fire was first reported and the building has partially collapsed.
Power is out for about 250 downtown residents and three streets are closed for several blocks.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
