Shopko to close remaining stores, including in Missoula

MISSOULA – Shopko announced it is closing its remaining 120 department stores, including Missoula and Kalispell in Western Montana.

Shopko will liquidate its assets and close all of its remaining locations by June, according to a document filed Monday in U.S. bankruptcy court.

According to a press release, the following Shopko stores in Montana will close:

  • Missoula
  • Kalispell
  • Billings
  • Helena
  • Sidney
  • Dillon
  • Shelby
  • Glasgow
  • Lewistown
  • Livingston
  • Libby

The Green Bay, WI-based retailer filed for bankruptcy Jan. 16, 2019.  It started closing stores and pharmacies in Dec. 2018.

“This is not the outcome that we had hoped for when we started our restructuring efforts,” said Russ Steinhorst, Chief Executive Officer of Shopko. “We want to thank all of our teammates for their hard work and dedication during their time at Shopko.”
