Montana teen wins challenge for young entrepreneurs

Posted

BILLINGS – A Billings high school sophomore got the chance to meet some ranking Montana politicians after she won the Montana “Teenpreneur” challenge.

Kathryn Brower and her business, 406 Lips, rose to the top out of about 87 participants. She creates lip balm holders made out of fabrics.

Brower was inspired to create the holder after she ruined a load of laundry by forgetting some in her pocket.

As the winner in the existing business section, Brower got to travel to Helena to meet with Governor Steve Bullock. While she was there, Bullock let her in on some Capitol history.

“They went on to talk about how entrepreneurs have some of the greatest minds and how we really help the community,” Bower told MTN. “We think in other ways people usually don’t think to fix problems.”

This summer, Bower will attend the Montana Startup Academy, where teens from across the state will meet with MSU professors in Bozeman to try to solve world problems through business.
